The Mill Burn is secretive in its little valley as it sneaks past the golf course and descends towards the old mill which is long abandoned. From there it disappears altogether as it passes through the town and sneaks into the Dee barely noticed.

Shy Smiles in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, India.
Scotland’s Dumfries and Galloway is a land of rolling and hummocky lowlands and small craggy hills, so here is a patch of rolling cow pasture. Many of the farms are moving to more intensive methods and although plenty of springtime lambs can be seen in the fields, more and more the cattle are reared in the growing number of large barns.
It ain’t natural I say…..
Varanasi back lanes twist and turn and on this occasion I’m not sure who was more surprised as I came around a corner, to a welcome on the wall, and a girl hurriedly stepping aside.
A late May scene in Kirkcudbright Bay, Dumfries & Galloway, Scotland.
Admittedly some of the drama may be mine in this monochrome image, but with the sunlight catching the foaming sea it’s easy to see why the rest of the picture is much darker in contrast.
Another street photography environmental portrait that was taken in the back lanes of Agra, Uttar Pradesh, India. As you can guess, the kids have no inhibitions about wanting to get into a photograph, so people can almost be queuing up to have their photo taken. Elsewhere you have to persuade folk to pose for their picture.
The Lowran Burn tumbles down the hill into Loch Ken through a series of small waterfalls through the dense trees of the Galloway Forest Park. This spring time shot shows that it’s quite gloomy under the canopy which adds to the feeling of enclosed mystery. A true fairy glen.
This is a part of a video pan shot of a street in Agra. The guy in the foreground just stood and stared into the camera. It’s difficult to determine whether his expression is disapproving or passive. Maybe that scowl comes naturally.
A late afternoon view of the Dee Estuary and Kirkcudbright Marina taken at low tide in January. There’s a melancholy quality to wintertime photos that I like for their moody feel, but at least this one is enlivened by having a blue sky.
A cheerful street seller with his barrow in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, India.
